  • Raz-Lee Updates iSecurity Suite

    May 22, 2007 Alex Woodie

Raz-Lee Security is shipping a new release of iSecurity, its suite of security tools for System i servers. Improvements that users will see with the new release include a new graphical interface, new reporting and report distribution capabilities, and a new user authentication system.

Raz-Lee’s iSecurity suite is composed of more than a dozen products that can be purchased individually or as an integrated package. The products include Firewall, Antivirus, Screen, Password Manager, Audit, Action, Capture, View, Visualizer, FileScope, Application Journal, User Profile Manager, and the Assessment tool.

In April, Raz-Lee announced what it billed as a major a new release of iSecurity with improvements in several areas. On the interface front, the new release introduced an enhancement to its Java-based GUI that included two “embedded” screens, including a terminal emulator for accessing green-screen functions, and an “Excel-like” spreadsheet for viewing reports.

Another new reporting feature is the capability to execute and print reports either locally or on remote systems, boosting the product’s usefulness in large, distributed environments. Raz-Lee says this feature was added in response to user requests for “one-stop” reporting in iSecurity. Users can also distribute reports in their choice of CSV, PDF, or HTML formats using e-mail, the company announced.

The final area of improvement to iSecurity is the new User Authentication module. With User Authentication, users can manage their own password resets without involving the system administrator or help desk personnel. The software uses a series of challenge questions created by the user to authenticate users, which triggers the product to generate a temporary password known only to the user.

Shmuel Zailer, Raz-Lee’s chief executive, boasted that this release of iSecurity gives the product an unrivaled breadth of functionality. “iSecurity now has more capabilities and addresses more security and compliance-related areas in and around the System i, such as user, screen, system, data base, and system audit journal management to name just a few, than any other product on the market,” Zailer stated in a press release. “Together with our distributors in the United States and throughout the world, we look forward to providing our current customer base as well as our future customers with the best in System i security.”
