  • Oracle Delivers New Functionality with JDE EnterpriseOne Update

    November 3, 2009 Alex Woodie

Oracle last week delivered a slew of mostly minor enhancements for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne with Release 9 Update 1. The update gives users of EnterpriseOne 9.0 new functionality in several areas, including financials, project management, human capital management, and more.

Oracle delivered a major update of EnterpriseOne with the delivery of version 9.0 a year ago. To prevent customers from feeling overwhelmed by new releases every few months or years, Oracle decided to put out Release 9, Update 1, which is intended to provide incremental improvement without requiring a major application upgrade and all that entails.

The vendor addressed several application areas with Update 1. The financial module got new automated account reconciliation features for the general ledger, as well as new “tax capture” functionality. The human capital management module was enhanced to support Canadian Record of Employment processing over the Web.

Manufacturers will applaud changes to the ERP system that allow it to support 24/7 manufacturing operations. The supply chain execution component received new batch shipment confirmation and inventory cycle count updates. Oracle also included the capability to process license plates on a FIFO (first in, first out) basis. This release also has a certified interface to Oracle’s Transportation Management version 5.5.

EnterpriseOne’s project management capabilities were updated with several enhancements, including processing of “non burden” billable categories, the capability to process fees in detail, and performance enhancements for job status inquiries.

Oracle encourages all of its EnterpriseOne customers to apply the update, as it contains all the fixes, patches, and tweaks–called electronic software updates (ESUs) and application software updates (ASUs) in Oracle’s parlance–since EnterpriseOne Release 9.0 was shipped in September 2008.
