  • nuBridges Eases i/OS Integration for Tokenized Data

    June 2, 2010 Alex Woodie

nuBridges last week unveiled a new adapter that will make it easier to implement tokenization in the i/OS environment. The nuBridges Protect Adapter for IBM‘s i/OS, unveiled at last week’s COMMON conference, will basically handle all the underlying Web services communications with nuBridges Token Manager, leaving i/OS programmers to work in their familiar RPG, COBOL, and C environments.

nuBridges, which unveiled its nuBridges Protect Token Manager product a year ago, is a strong advocate for using tokenization–which replaces sensitive data with meaningless surrogate values, or tokens–either on a standalone basis or in conjunction with encryption, which shares similarities

  • Maximum Availability Unveils New HA Monitor

    May 11, 2010 Alex Woodie

Knowing if a target System i server is ready to take over processing from a primary server is one of the biggest challenges to successfully operating an i/OS high availability (HA) environment. With its new browser-based MAXView console unveiled last week at the COMMON conference in Orlando, Florida, HA software vendor Maximum Availability intends to take the guesswork out of gauging system readiness. And since MAXView runs on the iPhone, IT managers can stay informed wherever they go.

Like all i/OS HA vendors, Maxava has already invested in presenting failover readiness information on-screen for its *noMAX customers. All three versions

  • .NET App Modernization Tool Unveiled by looksoftware

    May 11, 2010 Dan Burger

Before starting an IBM i application modernization planning process, it’s good advice to examine your application portfolio and understand where you want to make investments. Existing applications may not fit new business requirements or high maintenance may be strangling app dev progress. Either one makes you question their value. Some circumstances move companies in the direction of Microsoft .NET development, and if this occurs to you, then looksoftware should get your attention.

Ask yourself: When business goals and IT infrastructure are horribly misaligned, who gets the black eye? Without a doubt, it’s the IT department, and chances are good that

  • RJS Unveils Signature Capture Software

    May 11, 2010 Alex Woodie

One of the drawbacks of using electronic documents is the difficulty of dealing with signatures. Getting signatures often requires printing the document, signing it with a pen, then re-scanning the document into electronic form, which eliminates one of the key advantages of e-docs. With the new SignHere digital signature capture software unveiled last week by RJS Software Systems, organizations will be able to capture signatures and apply them to e-docs automatically.

RJS developed SignHere to streamline the handling of signatures as it relates to common business forms, such as invoices, bills of lading, proof of delivery, and other documents
