    HiT Software last week unveiled a cloud version of DBMoto, its data replication and change data capture (CDC) software. The new product uses Web services to keep disconnected databases refreshed or in sync with other databases, using the cloud for transport. DB2/400 is supported by the software, as are 20 other databases.

  • Misys Partner Launches IBM i Client for Subversion 1.75

    A Russian partner of IBM i banking software developer Misys last week announced that it has completed work on a new IBM i client for the popular open source Apache Subversion version control system. A developer at Banking Technologies & Consulting says the IBM i client, called iSVN, enables RPG and CL programmers to access external SVN repositories and utilize SVN features, such as code checkout and update commands, from the comfort of the 5250 green screen.

  • Synergivity Touts Workflow Enhancements in MDCMS

    Organizations that use Midrange Dynamics‘ IBM i change management system will see a big improvement in the way that change requests flow through the system with MDCMS version 6.8. Officials with Synergivity Software, the North American distributors of MDCMS, say that as a result of enhanced integration between the CMS and the workflow systems, users will be able to drive change management processes directly from the workflow product.

    TrackPoint Systems last week announced that the latest release of its trailer tracking application, called CONNECT, has been verified to work with Innovative IES, the IBM i-based trucking dispatching application from TMW Systems.   • UNICOM Wheels and Deals for Two Public Companies

    UNICOM has been active in the mergers and acquisitions department over the last month. Last week, the owners of SoftLanding Systems completed the acquisition of government IT service firm GTSI for about $75 million. It also announced plans to buy server appliance maker Network Engines for about $62 million.

    GTSI is based in Herndon, Virginia, and counts more than 1,700 government agencies as clients. The company, which has about 450 employees, was ranked number 73 on Washington Technology’s 2012 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.

    A.T. Cross, a manufacturer of engraved pens and other gifts, says its recent decision to implement IntelliChief‘s electronic document management and workflow software will enable it to get the upper hand on previously paper-based processes.

    A.T. Cross is a 165-year-old company that’s established itself as a designer and marketer of branded personal and business accessories, such as pens and watches, which it sells around the world via retail and corporate channels. The company, which had revenues of $165 million last year, uses the IBM i-based MAC-PAC ERP system from TDCI to help automate critical processes.
