  • Product Review: Stampede’s AutoZip Eases E-Mail Attachment Woes

    September 28, 2004 Joe Hertvik

E-mail attachments are a headache for IBM Lotus Domino administrators. Larger and ever-expanding e-mail attachments increase backup time, consume Domino server disk space, and affect server performance, increase mailbox administrative costs, and slow down network transmission speeds. No matter how you view it, servicing large e-mail attachments is costly, in terms of network administration and performance.

To ease these woes, Stampede Technologies offers TurboGold AutoZip. AutoZip is Stampede’s Lotus-based client and server software for the automatic ZIP file compression of large Domino e-mail file attachments. By reducing Domino attachment storage space in a mailbox, AutoZip helps your network efficiently transfer

  • EVault Brings Online Backups to the iSeries

    September 21, 2004 Alex Woodie

EVault iSeries, the OS/400 version of the vendor’s disk-to-disk backup and recovery offering that sends data offsite using IP networks, promises faster and more versatile back ups and recoveries than standard tape backups, while avoiding the hassle and expense of high-end mirroring solutions. The solution is available as either licensed software or an outsourced service using the vendor’s data centers.

Phil Gilmour, chief executive of Walnut Creek, California, based EVault, is a tape displacement aficionado. He realizes that, while the iSeries is a pretty reliable machine, tape-based backup processes–no

  • Olympic Effort Not Required for Publishing Business Communications

    September 14, 2004 Dan Burger

Publishing your own newsletter or product bulletins is a strategy used by many companies to achieve a polished and professional method of communicating with business partners, customers, employees, and other stakeholders. For years this was accomplished with printed publications that required substantial amounts of time and labor and costs. If you could reduce production expenses, primarily printing and mailing, and also accommodate the inclusion of more timely information, you would probably be looking at publishing content via an e-mail newsletter, Web site, or portal.

One organization that has taken advantage of this publishing opportunity is the United States Olympic Committee.
