  • BCD Adds New Partners in Europe and California

    September 29, 2008 Alex Woodie

Business Computer Design Int’l has added a trio of new partners to its reseller program, including Deltacare of The Netherlands, Dagessa of Poland, and evolveIT of Irvine, California. All three new partners will be selling the array of BCD’s application modernization and transformation products for the IBM i operating system.

BCD markets a collection of integrated i OS solutions, which includes the WebSmart PHP and ILE development environments, the Presto screen modernization tool, the Nexus Web portal, the Catapult spool file delivery system, and the Clover reporting and query tool. BCD sells its solutions through a business partner program, which it overhauled several years ago to be in alignment with IBM’s iSeries Initiative for Innovation. As part of the program, BCD gives partners free licenses to software valued at more than $60,000 (provided partners pay maintenance), and offers other incentives to encourage interest in its tools.

The inclusion of Deltacare in BCD’s program gives the software company a new presence in the Benelux countries of Europe, which includes Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Deltacare, which was founded in 1992, is a member of the Pantheon Group, one of IBM’s biggest partners in the region. It focuses mainly on the System i, and targets the public and semi-public healthcare segment.

According to Frits van Muijlwijk, Deltacare’s business development manager, BCD’s tools will help its customers create modern, Web-enabled applications for i OS. “In the Netherlands, there are many companies looking for sophisticated tools that are easy to learn and use, to help them with these projects,” he says. “With the complete range of BCD products, there is an answer to this need.”

evolveIT, formerly known as eBusiness Solution Pros, has also joined the program. The company offers a variety of professional services for the i OS platform, with a strong focus on application modernization. One of evolveIT’s recent customers is Veolia Environmental Services, which augmented 20-year-old RPG applications with new Web-based solutions using WebSmart, Nexus Portal, and Clover Query.

Also joining the program is Dagessa, an i OS consultancy based in Katowice, Poland. The company services some of the largest i OS shops in Poland, including AIG Bank, Broen, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, and Schering Polska, among others.

The new partners will help keep applications on the System i platform by giving them the tools they need, says Eric Figura, BCD’s director of sales and marketing. “Clients really like the idea of having choices by selecting specific solutions that best fit their own definition of modernization,” he says. “They can stay on the System i without leaving the platform to meet their business goals, and add new integrated modernization components as their business needs expand.”
