  • InfoPrint Solutions Introduces New Printers, AFP Options

    June 17, 2008 Alex Woodie

The InfoPrint Solutions Company launched two new entry-level monochrome laser printers at the DRUPA printing conference last week in Düsseldorf, Germany. The company also highlighted enhancements for its InfoPrint 4100 industrial-strength printer.

The new InfoPrint 75 and InfoPrint 100 continuous forms laser printers offer speeds of 115 pages per minute (PPM) and 154 PPM, respectively, and support print quality up to 600 dots per inch. The two printers support both PostScript and PCL data languages. Support for Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS) is planned for 2009.

InfoPrint Solutions says the InfoPrint 75 and 100 are ideal entry-level printers for companies that print client invoices, direct marketing mailings, labels, and distribution center picking slips. “These compact laser printers are developed to enable document sequence integrity with high throughput at a low price point for operation to companies who need to print variable data on a standard monthly basis,” says Chris Reid, director, monochrome production printing solutions for InfoPrint, which is based in Boulder, Colorado.

InfoPrint, you will remember, is the joint venture between IBM and Ricoh that was formed a couple of years ago to develop and market IBM’s printers. It has taken the AFP ball from IBM, and is now trying to promote AFP as the ideal solution for enterprise-strength production printing.

To that end, the company highlighted recent advances in its InfoPrint 4100 line at the DRUPA show, a huge printing show held only once every four years. InfoPrint was keen to talk up its new InfoPrint POWER Controller, which it bills as a groundbreaking enhancement for customers who are starting to combine variable data and image color on documents such as statements and bills.

One of the key new features of the architecture, InfoPrint says, is the capability to build new applications in color and output in either monochrome or color using the same architecture, which will reduce cost and provide better backup in case a printer goes down.
