  • Bsafe Adds AIX Support to Auditing and SIEM Product

    August 18, 2009 Alex Woodie

Organizations that audit their Power Systems servers using software from Bsafe Information Security can now audit their AIX environments, in addition to i OS and Linux, thanks to a new release of the Bsafe/CPA product unveiled this summer. The company also overhauled the Linux auditing function.

Bsafe/CPA is one of about 19 components of the Bsafe/Enterprise Security for IBM i suite. The software, which runs on Windows and the SQL Server database, helps organizations manage their security and regulatory compliance initiatives by collecting, consolidating, and presenting security-related log data from multiple systems in one centrally accessible program that features a graphical interface. Optionally, users can view the audit data on the host server.

Prior to this release, the software could collect data from IBM i (i5/OS), z/OS, Linux, and Windows. With the current release, Bsafe has added support for AIX, giving the product complete coverage of the three Power Systems operating systems.

Also, Bsafe is now positioning the Bsafe/CPA software as a security information event management (SIEM) solution with the capability to detect and correlate security-related events from multiple platforms in real-time, or near real-time.

The company, which is based in Israel and maintains U.S. offices in New Jersey, says it’s already working on a new release of Bsafe/CPA for 2010. The upcoming release will feature closer integration with the core management console of the Bsafe/Enterprise Security. Currently, the management console for Bsafe/CPA is a separate product. The new release will also expand the number and type of alerts for all platforms.

Bsafe is also planning a major refresh of the Bsafe/Enterprise Security for IBM i suite for the fourth quarter of this year. The new release, version 6.1, will include a “dramatic line-up of new features,” the company says. For more information, see the company’s Web site at www.bsafesolutions.com.
