  • JDE Alliance Formed by Six Independent Vendors

    November 11, 2010 Alex Woodie

Six vendors that develop products to extend and enhance JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne ERP environments have banded together and created a new group called the JDE Alliance to boost their marketing and sales activities, the new group announced last week.

The six founding member of the newly formed JDE Alliance and their specialties include:

    • Arctools: data archiving and purge
    • Image Integration Systems (IIS): document management and workflow
    • InsightSoftware.com: reporting and analytics
    • RF-SMART: barcoding and automated data collection
    • Q Software: security and compliance
    • WTS: application hosting and disaster recovery

The vendors decided to form the JDE Alliance to increase their visibility and differentiate themselves from competitors, according to Bob Kearney, vice president of sales and marketing at IIS, which is based in Perrysburg, Ohio.

“It’s an alliance of companies that are and have been for some time very active in the JD Edwards space,” Kearney tells IT Jungle. “For years we’ve been bumping into one another and sharing leads with customer contacts in an informal way, and we decided to formalize that a bit and create something of a critical mass that says, ‘Here’s six companies you can trust who have excellent third-party products for JD Edwards.'”

With the exception of Richard Dolewski’s WTS, the focus of the JDE Alliance is on products, not services. The alliance is not open for new members at this time, although it may open it up in the future, Kearney says.

All members are well-versed in both World and EnterpriseOne systems, and their products work equally well whether the JDE software is running on IBM i or another operating system, Kearney says. Most of the members’ products are certified by Oracle, but the JDE Alliance provides another mark of credibility to prospective customers.

“We’re excited about it,” Kearney says. “It gives each of the individual members the opportunity to get in front of more people. It gives the JD Edwards-using community relatively simple access to a trusted set of experienced third-party vendors.”

The group is planning to hold several “lunch and learn” events in the near future, including Minneapolis/St. Paul on November 10, Kansas City on November 16, and St. Louis on November 17.

For more info, see the group’s website at www.jdealliance.com.

This article was corrected. IIS is based in Perrysburg, Ohio, not Perrysburg, Pennsylvania. IT Jungle regrets the error.

[Live Webinar] Rewrite your Synon in Java? It could be… a mistake!

Converting from Synon CA 2E to a modern language? There are many good reasons to take this step. Beyond the critical shortage of Synon skills, applications developed in this 4GL environment can no longer take advantage of key technology advances in the IBM i operating system. And though a leader in its day, the Synon CASE tool is incompatible with modern DevOps practices and concurrent development.

Do you think the best way to move away from Synon CA 2E is by rewriting everything in Java?

Think again. A full rewrite is risky, expensive, and slow — often leading to years of redevelopment and countless functional regressions.

Join Philippe Magne, CEO of ARCAD Software and Ray Bernardi, senior solution architect to learn why a conversion to Free Form RPG is a risk-free and high-performance option that leverages the architecture of the original Synon application – retaining all the reliability and security advantages of the host platform.

In our Webinar, we will share a secure, automated migration path for business applications developed in Synon CA 2E:

    • 100% automated conversion to modern Free Form RPG and DDL (SQL)
    • Guaranteed conversion accuracy with test automation process
    • Possible modernization of the user interface during the project
    • Risk free, fixed price Modernization as a Service (MaaS)
    • Modern full DevOps framework for delivery

Leverage the competitive advantage within your Synon application.
