  • Cyber-Ark Launches Cloud MFT Service

    September 27, 2011 Alex Woodie

Cyber-Ark Software has extended its managed file transfer (MFT) solution to the cloud. Its new Inter-Business Vault as a Service, unveiled two weeks ago, starts at $1,900 per month.

Cyber-Ark serves a variety of data security needs with its Digital Vault, a proprietary Windows-based application that’s designed to be an impenetrable silo. All communication with the Digital Vault is handled through its proprietary “vault protocol,” and is encrypted and extensively logged.

The Digital Vault provides the foundation for several Inter-Business Vault (IBV) solutions, ranging from password and user session management to MFT. The company’s MFT solution supports the company’s proprietary protocol, as well as regular FTP, FTPS (SSL-based FTP), SFTP (SSH-based FTP), and SCP (secure copy protocol). All major operating systems, including IBM i, are supported by the IBV solutions, including its MFT offering.

The new IBV as a Service offering is designed to streamline the installation of a secure MFT solution, thereby alleviating pressure on the IT department. A Web portal branded with the customers makes it relatively easy to on-board new trading partners with a minimum of training. Users simply follow the registration instructions sent via email.

The solution supports manual, ad-hoc, and automatic file transfers. There are no file size limits, and users can conduct multiple file transfers simultaneously. IBV as a Service keeps a record of all file transfer activity, which is archived for several years for regulatory compliance purposes.

“By deploying dedicated Digital Vaults in a cloud delivery model, Cyber-Ark effectively addresses security and audit concerns related to sharing and storing sensitive information in the cloud,” states Cyber-Ark vice president of product management Roy Adar in a press release. “Users also have the flexibility to move to an on-premise or hybrid solution for better enterprise integration as their business needs evolve.”

For more information on IBV as a Service, see the company’s website at www.cyber-ark.com.
