  • Velocity Gets Into Oracle EBS Management Biz with velos-IT Buy

    April 2, 2013 Alex Woodie

Velocity Technology Solutions, a managed service provider (MSP) that manages customers’ ERP systems in addition to providing the private clouds on which they run, will begin providing management of Oracle‘s E-Business Suite (EBS) ERP software as the result of its acquisition of UK-based MSP velos-IT.

In a recent interview, Velocity CEO Tom Bruno strongly hinted that his private equity-backed New York City company would be making more acquisitions (it bought WTS in October 2011 to gain JD Edwards expertise).

Bruno also said that it was likely Velocity would find a way to get into the management of Oracle EBS and SAP‘s Business Suite systems, to go along with its business of managing customers’ JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, World, Infor Lawson M3 and S3, Kronos, and Oracle Hyperion environments.

It just wasn’t expected that Velocity would move so quickly.

With last week’s announcement that it has bought velos-IT, Velocity not only acquired an established MSP, but it gained entry into the European and Oracle EBS markets, all in one fell swoop. It’s almost as if the two companies’ had some sort of shared destiny that extended beyond their eerily similar names.

“Velocity and velos-IT share a common set of core values and a reputation for technology innovation and customer service,” Bruno stated in a press release. “The acquisition of velos-IT furthers our global services footprint and immediately strengthens and expands our Universal Cloud Services offering to include Oracle E-Business Suite.”

Based in Glasgow, Scotland, velos-IT was founded in 2004 and specializes in providing cloud and IT management services for midsize and large companies. In addition to EBS expertise, the company has skills in JD Edwards and QlikView, the in-memory business intelligence reporting tool from QlikTech.

Next up from Velocity: an SAP management announcement. Just maybe not this week.

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
