  • Lawson Trims Installation Times for Fashion Customers

    October 19, 2010 Alex Woodie

Cost-cutting has never been more in vogue in the world’s companies. And for those in the fashion industry, new releases of Lawson Software‘s pre-configured ERP suites unveiled last week will help slash implementation times by up to 50 percent, the company claims.

Lawson QuickStep for Fashion is a pre-configured version of the company’s M3 line of ERP software, which is often deployed on IBM i servers. The package goes in quickly because Lawson has already adjusted 70 percent of the switches to the most common settings used by clothing manufacturers and distributors. As a result, very little modification is typically required, resulting in very fast installation times.

The new iteration of QuickStep for Fashion is based on the latest version 10.1 release of M3, which Lawson shipped in February. This release adds a number of new features pertinent to clothing companies, such as: new costing and pricing capabilities; better bulk-order capabilities; new processes for grouping and splitting delivers; better invoice matching; new credit limit functions; and new package management functions that limit the need to put human hands on deliveries.

The St. Paul, Minnesota, company also unveiled Lawson QuickStep for Fashion Sourcing. The pre-configured version of M3 10.1 is intended to be used by companies that design, source, and distribute fashion products, but do not manufacture them. Companies that manufacture fashion products would be directed to use the QuickStep for Fashion solution.

In addition to QuickStep for Fashion, Lawson sells QuickStep packages designed for government, food and beverage, distribution, healthcare, and asset-intensive industries.
