  • IBM Patches WebSphere Portal XSS Vulnerability

    June 7, 2011 Alex Woodie

Organizations running WebSphere Portal versions 6 and 7 are encouraged to apply an IBM patch to fix a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that could allow an attacker to run arbitrary HTML and script code in a user’s Web browser. The vulnerability, which was revealed in late May, affects WebSphere Portal 7 running on several operating systems, including IBM i.

According to IBM’s Internet Security Systems‘ X-Force database, which can be accessed at xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/67594, the XSS vulnerability stems from the failure to properly sanitize user input in the search center component of a WebSphere Portal application. This vulnerability could

Bytware’s Messenger products are power tools designed to save administrators’ time and increase response time during unforeseen events. They do this by continuously monitoring the IBM i message queues, logs, and journals for critical messages, and automatically responding to certain events by sending alerts to administrators or automatically running scripts.

  • Maintec Launches ‘Graveyard Shift’ Outsourcing Service

    June 7, 2011 Alex Woodie

Here’s a fun little fact: When it’s night in the United States, it’s daytime in India. Maintec Technologies, which runs a server outsourcing operation in Bangalore, India, is using this discrepancy in the distribution of photons to launch its new Graveyard Shift Service. Under the new service, Maintec will monitor and manage the critical IBM i, z/OS, and AIX servers of American companies during tough-to-fill shifts, including the graveyard shift, holidays, and weekends.

The global economic downturn has forced many companies to make due with less. For those running the data centers of mid-sized and large companies, that means
