    November 13, 2019 Alex Woodie

There have been some rumors that IBM is going to sunset Db2 Web Query for i, or replace it with Cognos. Neither of those rumors is true, according to IBM, which recently made some changes to Db2 Web Query support.

Db2 Web Query for i, of course, is the OEM version of Information Builders flagship BI and analytics tool, WebFOCUS, that IBM brought to market in the 2007 timeframe. The Java-based tool enables users to write queries for the Db2 for i database (and other databases) and view the results in a variety of pre-canned and custom dashboards and reports. …

We were busy at IBM Systems Technology University in Las Vegas last week and also had to chew through the Technology Refreshes for IBM i 7.3 and IBM i 7.4, so we are not our normal chatty selves here at the IBM i PTF Guide. Please do forgive.

So what’s new, you ask? There are new HIPER groups on all four releases. Yes, even IBM i 7.1, with MF66663, which deals with hard disk issues. That’s enough excitement for one week, really.

New (or Updated) Links this week: None this week, busily gleaning useful tidbits from TechU calls material! …

And as always, there are some things to check out inside the IBM i PTF Guide for other stuff that is going on – and in this case, this was stuff that happened before the TRs were announced on Tuesday concurrent with IBM Systems Technology University, or TechU, being held in Las Vegas.

    The big warning …
