Stay-Linked Updates Emulation Solution
March 20, 2007 Alex Woodie
Stay-Linked, a new company that eBusiness Solutions Pros (since renamed evolveIT) spun out in January, has issued a new release of Stay-Linked, its eponymous host-based terminal emulation solution for warehouse environments running System i.
Chief among the new enhancements in Stay-Linked version 8 is the new “pool license server,” a new component designed to simplify deployment of Stay-Linked in distributed environments, such as retail chains running multiple warehouses.
“The new pool license server option takes a single Stay-Linked concurrent-user license and automatically distributes user seats to the various remote application hosts dynamically based on demand,” says Mike Pagani, Stay-Linked’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Now, enterprises with a distributed processing model can enjoy the same benefits offered by Stay-Linked’s thin-client design and cost-effective usage-based licensing.”
Another major enhancement is support for double-byte character sets. “A significant number of domestic enterprises have the need to also support operations in Asia with core host applications, and specifically users performing real-time data capture,” says David Griffith, Stay-Linked’s CEO.
Other notable enhancements delivered with version 8 include support for SSL-based Telnet connections, additional host API functions, enhanced barcode editing configuration, expanded administrator GUI console capabilities, and support for SCO UnixWare and Mac OS X server platforms.
Version 8 is currently available as a free downloadable upgrade for all Stay-Linked 7.2 users under support and maintenance. For more information, see www.stay-linked.com.
