  • MVP Adds Job Library to Scheduler

    February 1, 2011 Alex Woodie

MVP Systems Software recently unveiled a new release of its cross-platform job scheduler and file transfer solution that should make it easier for customers to control specific applications. The new jobs library in JAMS 5.2 includes dozens of application-specific sample jobs that customers can use to build out their schedule.

JAMS is a .NET-based job scheduler used primarily to coordinate and control the execution of batch jobs across Windows, Unix, Linux, and OpenVMS environments. The company unveiled an IBM i agent in 2009 to allow it to control jobs on System i and Power Systems servers. The product can also automate file transfers over popular protocols.

This month, the Connecticut company introduced JAMS 5.2, which includes a new Online Jobs Library. The idea is that customers can go to this library to get application-specific sample jobs for the Windows Workflow Foundation, the Windows PowerShell, the VMware environment, and Unix.

Other new 5.2 features include: new PowerShell “cmdlets” for connecting to IMAP and POP mail servers; a new parameter validation function; a new job audit trail feature; support for e-mail trigger definitions; and new job parameter sharing feature.
