  • Flux Hooks Up with MFT Consultancy

    July 26, 2011 Alex Woodie

Job scheduler developer Flux last week announced a partnership with File Transfer Consulting that will bring its customers a new resource for designing managed file transfer (MFT) systems.

Flux is a Java-based suite of workload automation and MFT tools that are used to streamline the flow of work and documents across servers, including the IBM i server. The software, which we wrote about last month, can initiate remote services over the Web via REST and SOAP interfaces, and uses a Web browser for all design and management tasks.

Flux is now one of the tools that File Transfer Consulting (FTC) can bring to bear to help solve its clients MFT needs. The Watertown, Wisconsin-based consultancy was founded just three months ago by Jonathan Lampe, an MFT industry veteran who helped create several successful file transfer offerings, including Ipswitch‘s MOVEit suite, the professional services offerings behind Ipswitch’s File Transfer offering, and two managed file transfer SaaS services. According to FTC, more than 1,200 enterprises around the world use MFT solutions developed by Lampe.

Lampe says he likes what he sees in Flux, the eponymous product developed by the Las Vegas company. “Flux is really a unique workload automation vendor,” he says in a press release. “They have an extremely broad and powerful set of SOA [service oriented architecture] interfaces on their orchestration software, but they also have an excellent workflow visualization in their Web-based designer. From a business perspective, this is a rare one-two ROI [return on investment] punch.”

Lampe also highlighted Flux’s capability to hook on-premise resources with cloud-based environments. The capability to traverse this gap with B2B data, including documents, images, and batch transactions, “will be essential” as traffic continues to move to the cloud, he says.

In addition to reselling the Flux product, FTC is selling Ipswitch’s MOVEit and WS_FTP software, RhinoSoft‘s Serv-U software, and Linoma Software‘s GoAnywhere line. For more information, see www.filetransferconsulting.com.
