We hope you are well out there in IBM iLand during the Great Infection. These are tough times, but we can get through it together. The PTF updates are a little skimpy this week, and that is just as well with people having plenty of other things on their mind.

We hope everybody is keeping safe during the coronavirus outbreak. The PTFs are a-rolling again, and that means the IBM i PTF Guide is updated to keep you up to speed.
The first new thing is that there is a Direct URL for Access to Digital Certificate Manager. For example: http://9.5.123.234:2001/QIBM/ICSS/Cert/Admin/qycucm1.ndm/main0.
There are updates to the primary IBM i releases that still get patched, as follows:

It is a quiet in IBM i PTF Land this week, and that is to be expected with the coronavirus outbreak finally – and very regretfully but not unexpectedly – making its way around the global. But we will continue to put out the IBM i PTF Guide like clockwork because keeping mission critical systems up to date and humming along is more important than ever, even if the volume of business for most companies is, at this point with few exceptions, hard to guess.
We are here to help, and if you run into trouble on your systems because …

It is hard to say what effect the coronavirus outbreak will have on the release of PTFs for the several IBM i releases in the field, and the regular pattern of updates that customers are used to. But so far, things are operating as normal, and there have been some updates. This being software and not requiring travel by any parties – and indeed, systems could be remotely patched by administrators working from home if need be.
And here is the rundown by IBM i release:
PTF Groups 7.4
- SAP support required PTF list
- MQ for IBM i – v9.0.0/v9.1.0

IBM i PTF Guide, Volume 22, Number 9

There is rarely a week that there isn’t something going on with PTF patches for the IBM i operating system, its integrated database, and the whole stack of software wrapping around that operating system. This would be one of those normal weeks, where there is nothing too crazy going on but there is stuff to pay attention to.
We also had a leap year Saturday for the IBM i PTF Guide, which doesn’t happen very often. The Gregorian calendar has a 400-year – well, 146,097-day – cycle, and of these days, there are 97 days that correspond to February …

We are back in synch again this week with the IBM i PTF Guide, and I am going to offer you a bit of personal advice just to get things going: Drink lots of water, every day. You will not regret it later in your life, trust me on that one. Coffee and tea and beer and wine don’t count nearly as much as cool, clear, clean tap water. Maybe herbal tea is alright.
Now, let’s get on with the rundown by IBM i release:
PTF Groups 7.4
- Backup Recovery Solutions
PTF Groups 7.3

Alright people, the big news for the week is that Rational Developer for i, version 9.6.0.7, has just been released. Other than that, it has been relatively quiet on the PTF front. There are some nips and tucks for the three releases that are still being supported.
They are as follows:
PTF Groups 7.4
- SAP support requited PTF list for IBM i
PTF Groups 7.3
- SAP support requited PTF list for IBM i

Another day, another dollar. Another week, another batch of PTF patches for the IBM i stack.
So here is what has gone down. There are multiple vulnerabilities in the IBM Java SDK and the IBM Java Runtime that affect the IBM i platform. Fixes for the vulnerabilities are contained in current Java PTF group for all four releases. IBM recommends that all users running unsupported versions of affected products upgrade to supported and fixed versions of affected products.
Here is the rundown of the patches this week, by release.
PTF Groups 7.4:
- HIPERs (High Impact/Pervasive)
- SAP Support Required PTF List
