We’ve seen the layoffs of tech employees ramping up as of late. Amazon, Meta (nee Facebook), Twitter, Yahoo, Zoom, and the list goes on, have all announced significant personnel cuts in 2023. It’s a big turnaround from the midst of the pandemic, when tech companies were on a hiring spree to keep up with the surge to go online when everyone was stuck at home. The good news is IT pros with cybersecurity, cloud, and data analytics/machine learning skills have remained in high demand. We hope our efforts to keep you informed on these topics and learning opportunities have kept …

Have you noticed there is national day for just about everything? Just in the month of January, we have national chocolate-covered cherry day, national bean day, national houseplant appreciation day, and national dress up your pet day, to name just a few. Data privacy week, which runs from January 22 through 28, was created by the National Cybersecurity Alliance to help spread awareness about online privacy, and educates citizens on how to manage personal information, and …

    October 5, 2022 Jenny Thomas

To some people, October means pumpkins, apple picking, and cozy sweaters. But in this world, October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which was launched by the National Cybersecurity Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in October 2004. “Awareness” is the key word describing the “holiday,” the point being you want to create cyber awareness to help your organization manage risks and change employee behavior. We write about cybersecurity here in the Jungle quite a bit, basically for the same reasons. We hope by keeping you informed that you, and your organization, will take steps to be safe. Happy October. …
